I have always had strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Unique life experiences, as well as empathy towards my fellow humans has given me the ability to see things from various viewpoints. This is essential unless your audience never changes. As a member of my school's debate team I learned that an affective viewpoint at times hinges on the facts available, your ability to organize that information, and the ability to deliver your final thoughts in a way that engages and persuades your audience.
My most recent project, "Did You Know," was something I created for the KDAF-33 television show, NewsFix. I understood our audience, and I enjoyed following news and current events. For this reason, I was allowed to choose my own topics, write each episode, and then narrate and sound design the final product.
I was originally hired by Tribune Media as a Sound Designer, but my role quickly expanded into writing daily news stories. The videos on this page were chosen to highlight my writing abilities.
*In 2016 The Lone-Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences nominated Matthew Otto for an Emmy Award for his role as Creator, Writer, Narrator, and Sound Designer for "Did You Know," an original, reoccurring segment within a news series for Television.
